March 19-22 Kodai, Soroptimists, Cliffside, Betsy Elisabeth

Traveling back to Kodai(kanal) with our favored off-the-mountain cabbie, Ranamam, we stop to get a banana leaf cup fashioned by a road side water vendor. As soon as we're out of sight, we toss the 10 rupees of murky water out the window and keep the cup.
The next day, Sunday the 20th, Ann and Jim, accompanied by Gail, attend a luncheon meeting of a nascent chapter of the Soroptimist Club to present the stove project as a partner project for the women's group. The presentation went well and a lively conversation ensued. Another project the group is taking on is a sewage treatment system – partnering with the Kodai International School and the state government. Monday was shopping and R&R – I didn't even take pictures. Tuesday the 22nd, we took an early morning hike near our place to the cliff side. That's our host Vera in the uppermost left. The yellow arrow marks Bruce Peck's studio. I forgot to use the telephoto to get Bruce waving to us....We repaired to George and Vera's to have a second breakfast, and were so pooped, we stayed for lunch. I found out there was WiFi and went home to get the netbook. At five we threw ourselves out. We finally met Biff, the wild fellow that skulks in George and Vera's neighborhood – ohn, oh, that's our neighborhood too...
Wednesday Gail shopped and planned for this Friday and Saturday Noah pageants, and Jim shopped for wood for the crate Selvam and he are building for the sewing group to ship bulk to Vermont. We were advised that a slight bit under a cubic meter would go containerized shipping for a flat rate. Wednesday night, we had dinner with Hilda's family, enjoying talk and dance from her lovely daughters, Elisabeth (left) a twelfth level student interested in becoming a chemistry teacher, and Betsy (right), 10th level English scholar.
