Jan 25 - Double Nelson

Sunday 23rd. Walked to the Souter Museum in Nelson, couldn't resist overshooting to cross this bridge over the Maitai River, which is tidal (only trace amounts of alcohol, however) and runs through town . The stainless rail was embellished with a Maori poem about the origins of eels.
OK inland dwellers: Low tide

High tide.

(OK around the corner from our hotel on different days.)

The Museum is set in the Queen's Garden Park next to a horseshoe lake, a former Maori eel trap. The pottery of the area is generally excellent, but this work by John Crawford blew us away.

That night we walked out to see the sunset, and it was setting over Joe Crocker, singing his heart out to a 'nearly full' Trafalgar Centre.

Monday we bussed to the WoW and back. World of Wearable Art, and Automobiles. They figured out how to get the guys to agree to go. It works. They didn't allow photographs of the wearable art because there were actual artists with actual intellectual property rights involved, so these are cribbed from the website.
The museum collection is made from an annual show that started in a tent in Nelson in 1988, and now plays in Wellington's largest venue. It's sort of Vegas meets Dali. That's New Zealand's only Cord – note right drive. The collector who owns the museum has no problem with inauthentic colors.

This car, on the street, helped me to keep the reverent element Gail likes to have in our posts.
